Choosing a career path can help student set professional goals and develop a strategy for getting where they want to be. Part of choosing an appropriate career path involves making an honest self-evaluation of your talents, abilities and interests. Regarding to this, Swadeep initiated the 'Disha Project' in the partnership with APM Terminals – Pipavav, in 27 Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools of Rajula and Jafrabad Block of Amreli District of Gujarat

The main goal of the project is to provide career guidance and counselling. Psychometric test are also conducted during the session, so that students and youths can know their own skills and professional interests, in order to choose an appropriate career in accordance with their psychological profile, aspirations, studies chosen, professional requirements and existent jobs, in the current conditions and requirement of socioeconomic and cultural development of the nation.

In every school a two hours input session are providing for children studying in 9-12th standard. The emphasis lays on common career for the students as per the discussion with them and what options are available within. The sessions displayed various fields and short clips to the children to get inspired and build their capabilities based on the same.

Objectives of the Project:

  • Guiding young people to adopt fair and realistic decisions about the opportunities they have in terms of educational and vocational route on which to build a successful career;
  • Counselling youth to harmonize educational and professional aspirations of the individual with our community value system, social desirable conduct and with personal aptitudes and skills.
  • Develop leadership qualities and personality development of youth and to channelize their energy towards socioeconomic development and growth of the community and nation.
  • Psychometric test of the students and suggest interested subjects and career options.
