Click here - News LinkTata Power, India's largest integrated power company,
has always been committed to supporting the national cause of providing
education to the children living in and around its plant operations.
Taking this commitment forward, Tata Power’s Mundra UMPP, in
collaboration with the NGO ‘Swadeep’, and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)
scheme of the Government, has established Sagar Shala – Community
School, a support school for the fishermen children in Tragadi Bunder.
The support school currently benefits over 90 fishermen children living
around the Tragadi Bunder settlement. This Sagar Shala-Community School
initiative helps to bring children of migrant children fishermen
community back to school and is proving to be an effective way of
providing them quality education in the innovative tent school.
The objective of this initiative is to ensure quality
education to the children through trained teachers, teaching and
learning material, and tent school. Fishermen’s children, who migrate
with their parents, had no options to continue their schooling due to
lack of proper infrastructure, thereby, depriving them of their right to
education. Through “Sagar Shala-Community School”, the Company aims to
bridge this gap and ensure the continuation of education of these
children, thereby, developing them as independent learners.
